Well, can you really say that? Because I mean I'm not skipping out on work but rather I cannot go to work! My boss has been calling me to update me on the situation. Apparently, there was new policy kicking into effect for the hiring of public service employees; therefore, it's holding back my start date. My boss said that they're finding these little loopholes that somewhat prevents me from being hired or something like that. It's really frustrating both for my boss and myself because he expected me to start on January 3rd and planned several projects for me to start on. Now those projects have either been taken over by himself and his assistant (which adds more work for them) or have been pushed back altogether. On my hand, I've been losing valuable income. Let's just say in the two weeks that I have not worked, I've lost enough income to cover my rent for two months. Some may say that I'm pretty lucky because I do not have anything to do and I can bum around. Yeah, it's pretty sweet that I can bum around but it's getting boring. I wake up and look forward to nothing. I wake up and wonder what I should do with my time; where I should go. Having that first week off was fun because I was able to run some errands. But now, it's getting lame. Everyone's back in class so they cannot hang out with me. My boss hopes to have me start on monday and he's a little bit concerned that if this continues, that I may not complete my co-op work term credit, so he's going to have to talk to the co-op office.....
Anyway, this past weekend was awesome. On saturday, Elijah Fellowship had a pot luck at Joanne's house. It was really fun and good times. On Sunday, after church, some of us (around 17 guys and 3 girls -- Mil, Steph, and I) went to a little shinny rink in Nepean to play hockey. I scored one goal -- it was a two on one and Kirk had the passing lane blocked off so I just shot it and it trickled past his legs and Danny's stick! wOOt! Oh yeah, at the end of the service, we welcomed some new faces to the church. Turns out we have three students in Ottawa to do their co-op work term! Anna is from Vancouver (well, more like Coquitlam! woot woot) and she's studying Poli Sci (another woot!) at UBC. She's here on "exchange/internship" -- which I find a little confusing. She has to study while also intern with an MP (when the election is over) and stays here during the summer to complete her co-op term (I think). Then there's Justin. He's from Toronto but studies at the University of Waterloo for engineering. He's working for HRSDC. Lastly, there's Janet (?). She's from Brampton and is also studying at the University of Waterloo in BioChem. She's working for Health Canada.
It should be an interesting semester. Maybe more new faces will show up.
Well, I'm off to do...um, something.

oh government...why do thee torment us all? sucks doesn't it? but think about it this way...even when you DO get to work, you have nothing to look forward to 'cuz you'd STILL be bored! Only thing that would be different is that you would be paid!
