Let's recap this week:
Sunday
Played hockey for probably the last time this ice hockey season, as the weather is starting to warm up. The ice at Heron/Clover wasn't the best as it was soft, so there were quite a few unfortunate falls (e.g. me!). Anyway, I had lots of fun playing this season -- scored some goals; assisted on some goals; took some people out with my high shots (whoops); cherry-picked my way through. But the best part of all was having the opportunity to fellowship with some people I don't normally get to and getting to know them better. It's been an incredible two months of hockey.
Aside from the stupid OC Transpo incident (I waited 40 minutes because one bus decided not to stop at Heron and proceeded driving while I was walking out the door to the platform) while returning home, Sunday was good -- nice weather.
Monday
Sigh -- another day at work and it's the beginning of the week too.
I had my co-op evaluation today. Carolyn Robertson, from the co-op office paid me and my bosses a little visit in the afternoon. I felt kind of nervous when she came because I had never had a site visit before. My last evaluation was done over the phone, since I was in Toronto. This time, Carolyn gets to see where I work and all that jazz. I was also nervous because I didn't know what my bosses would say about me. I know they've been happy with my progress but I didn't know their deep thoughts about me. Anyway, Carolyn and my bosses talked for about 15 minutes. Then it was my turn. *gulp*. The moment of truth. So I slowly trot my way over to the conference room. I sit down and Carolyn has this huge grin on her face. Then she proceeds to ask me several questions about what I have been doing and how I am enjoying (or not enjoying) my experiences at DND. So after explaining to her what I have been doing, she shows me the evaluation that my bosses gave me and went through each point. About 90% of the evaluation was outstanding, I think a couple of excellents and one very good (they said they couldn't give me all outstanding because then it would seem unfair...). Carolyn told me that they were very impressed with my initiative to find work and always asking for things to do (eh? -- I thought that would bother the heck out of people). Carolyn also was trying to see if there were any problems or things wrong with me, but my bosses admitted to her that they would have to be very very picky to do that. hehehe. So looks like I got an OUTSTANDING evaluation! wooooot! That's my second one! 2/2 baby!
And the best thing of all: they said they would definitely (emphasis on definitely, according to Carolyn) re-hire me for September if I wish to return. I told Carolyn that I have been thinking about it and she told me that I should speak to them about my plans. For the past several weeks, I have been contemplating my plans for co-op: to participate in the next placement process or return. By participating in the placement process, I'll probably be REALLY stressed during that period, but on the positive side, I'll probably get another position somewhere else, which would expand my experiences. On the other hand, I want to return to DND because I really like it there, and apparently, the September-December months are quite different for the Safety Office, so that may bring new experiences as well. So yeah, dilemma.......I have until the end of April to think about it. I guess I should pray more and give it to God to see where He wants to take me.
What a 360 turn my work experience has taken me -- from being bored as heck and reading useless gossip on the Internet to really enjoying the work I am doing now (since I have projects to do!). My work-term report should be quite interesting.........
Tuesday
I bought shoe polish and a Kiwi Cloth because I wanted to polish my Dr. Martens. They've been a little neglected since I've been wearing them to work on several occassions. So I decided to bring back some cadet memories and polish them. It would also help keep my shoes lasting longer. Well, here's a picture of one shoe that's polished (but not complete) and one that is not polished. Pretty spiffy eh? All the scuff marks are gone and it looks really really nice. I didn't want to polish them that much because then it would look like I was really in the military. LOL. But while polishing them, it brought back some good cadet memories of polishing my boots. Of course, those were a little easier to polish since they are made in a way that's supposed to be shiny.
Wednesday
Today was International Women's Day, so the DND had some special events set up on the concourse. Went down with Joanne (one of my bosses -- wow...is this the first time I've mentioned one of my bosses name here? lol) and picked up some freebies! Hooooray. I got myself a big cloth bag (for groceries!), a coffee mug, some pins (cuz I like pins), a cool food chart/guide, some CF Recruiting CDs, and two pedometres! Now I can count how many steps I take in a day....(yeah right).
What's also great about work now, is that since I'm somewhat in charge of inputting hazardous occurrence incident reports, they are all handed to me and so I don't have to go searching for work. Joanne and Stan (omg...that's two in a roll!) wonder if those reports are getting anal (some are, but some are actually quite interesting) but I haven't complained yet because it gives me something to do. I don't do that for 7 hours, but rather only about 3 hours. The other 4 hours are spent doing other stuff to have a change of scenary.
Anyway, I've been blogging a lot about work lately. Have I turned crazy?
