The weekend was sooo much fun! I didn't expect it to be so much fun!
Saturday:
It was Sports Day for the fellowships at the RA Centre. I didn't go because I thought no one would go. Turns out a few Elijahns (sp?) did go. Boogers. But I read my readings for Monday's class. I was going to go shopping at St. Laurent, but since it was a Saturday and school's out for everyone, I didn't want to shop with all those teeny-boppers and stripper-wannabes. So, I stayed home and played Boggle with my roommate, Michelle (that's the one I talk to). She schooled me big time. Hehehe. Then I get a message from Leon, inviting me out for dinner. Accepted the invitation ASAP because I wanted to get out of the apartment. So Leon, Aaron, Mel, and I went to Denny's at South Keys for din din. Surprisingly, there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant and the service was pretty good. Aaron was fasting (giving up meat) so he couldn't have a lot (more like anything) on the menu. He ended up substituting the meat portions of the meal with hashbrowns and lots of 'em. The food there is sooo filling. I always have to take home the pancakes.
Afterwards, it was still early so we wanted to do something but couldn't decide on what. It was either movies, bowling, mini-putting, go-karting....We were already parked at the movie theatre lot and decided on watching 'Cars' but because it started at 10pm and we had church the next day, we didn't want to get home at midnight. So we went mini-putting at Putting Edge. Good choice. I've never been to Putting Edge before and it was my first time playing glow-in-the-dark golf. So much fun! But I suck. Mel schooled us! She went under par, Leon went even and Aaron and I sucked...we went over :). I blame the putter! It was too big for me! LOL. After the game, we filled in this mini-survey for a free pass. We're going again in the near future. On the way out, I picked up this magazine because on the cover, it had the little turtle from the movie, 'Over the Hedge'. I thought it was a kids' movie magazine...boy was I wrong. It ended up being some parenting magazine. HAHA...I'm too young for that! But it's got some coupons for Putting Edge! So I'm taking that.
Sunday:
Finally got the chance to rollerblade to church. It's been either rainy, too cold, or threatening to rain for the past 4-5 Sundays. The air is soo fresh on Sunday mornings because there are no cars on the streets. This was my second time blading to church from Lees. The first time, it took me longer than expected because I was unfamiliar with the route, so I left at about 8:50am. I ended up being at church at 9:20am! SOOOO EARLY! So I just sat outside for a bit before taking off my blades. This has been my first time arriving to church early. I know, I know, you all must be wondering why I show up late for church every Sunday. Well, blame the OC Transpo. I either get to church at 9:05am or 9:35am. I choose the latter because there is no chance of me making me out to the bus stop at 8:45am. Hehehe. I always enter the sanctuary during the middle of the second song. It's so weird being early for church. Hopefully, if the weather stays nice for the remainder of the summer, I can be early more often.
I decided to head home to watch the England-Ecuador game, just because it's England. It's David Beckham. It's the chants. It's "God Save The Queen". It's just plain awesomeness. I missed the first 37 minutes of the game because I was chatting with people at church and on the way back, it took a little longer because there were more people out walking and more cars. Oh well. But I didn't miss the most important part of the game: David Beckham bends the ball into the Ecuadorian net at the 60th minute to take England 1 up! Woooooooooot!
A little bit after the end of the game and making dinner for later, I headed out to Tanglewood for some hockey action. The weather was awesome because it wasn't too hot or humid and there was a nice breeze. We had enough people for a 3-3 game at first, then more people showed up so we had a full game with 2 goalies. I took over in goal for Benita part way through because I wanted to try what it's like to be goalie. I ended up making some saves and making some blunders; more notably a Conklin (shooting the puck right at someone's stick) and a Lalime (trying to glove the puck and missed). Hehehe. It was fun! I want to try it again next time...whenever that will be, because school's going to pick up pretty soon.
I'm home in Toronto for the long weekend. I know, I'm in Ottawa and it's the thing to do while you're in Ottawa to go to Parliament Hill. But, I'll be here next summer for sure anyways and my orthodontist needs to check up on my braces beore they come off in August, so I have to go back. Boooogers. And it's a waste of money to go back for just the weekend. Must take advantage of my "No class Fridays" and Monday 3 July 06 off. Hope the OCAC crew doesn't do anything too exciting! Although, they're planning a sunrise thing at Gatineau Park and a BBQ.............D'OH!
