England vs. Portugal

I know I'm a little late, but I just found this picture to depict the utter disappointment of all English fans and must share it with all my faithful readers:So the game didn't go so well...

• David Beckham injures his achilles
• Wayne Rooney gets red carded
  
• England loses in the shootout (3-1)
• After the game, Beckham resigns as England captain, after 6 years at the helm
• Sven-Goran Eriksson pleads with the fans not to "kill Mr. Rooney" -- memories of 1998 when everyone was out to get Beckham after his red card vs. Argentina (he then escaped to Toronto because the Spice Girls were in town for a concert! hahaha...)
  

I guess you could say the only bright spot was the play of Owen Hargreaves. Funny how the Canadian-born, German-based player scores the only goal for England and was named Man of the Match and he did this on Canada Day. I wonder if he remembered that holiday...

In 4 years time (2010 South Africa), the England squad will look quite different. Hopefully, they will come out with a better result.
