What a weekend. First, it began with my killing a fly (and I have no sympathy for it because it was annoying the crap out of me) and ended with some bruising and aching. So let's begin the adventure, shall we.
Saturday
Some of the Elijans and Jeremiah's, as well as some cell groupers came together for a little trip to Gatineau Park to bask in the nature and admire the wonders of hiking trails. Since we would be surrounded by trees, I knew I had to get bug spray or else I would not be enjoying myself. So I invested in a little bottle. It still cost me almost $7...but I think it was a good investment. As soon as I got out the car, little mosquitoes (or I think they were) came attacking. I quickly grabbed my bottle and proceeded to spray myself, with the help of Andrea. Boy, I forgot how nasty the smell is. Four years ago in Chicoutimi, it was staple in my backpack, as we were outside every weekend. That was the last time I had bugspray on me. Since then, I've been stuck in the city so no need to worry. Then everyone realized that they were being attacked too, so they borrowed my bottle. I figured people would be smart enough to bring a bottle. I guess not. Maybe I'm a wuss with bugs, so I needed it. And needed it badly.
We hiked around the Mackenzie King Estate and saw the Abbey Ruins, which were the ruins of the first Centre Block building. I would of taken a picture, but there was a wedding party in there so I couldn't. It was pretty though. More gothic looking than the present building. We kept walking and walking and decided to head to a waterfall, which I have no clue what's it called. But it was pretty! Some people were very daring and climbed to the bottom and to the top. Unfortunately, we suffered two casualties but they were minor slips.
As we were heading back, the skies opened up but we were untouched. Apparently, it was raining quite hard but because there were a lot of trees, I guess the leaves protected us and we were not soaked. Hehehe. It was looking quite dreary so we decided to call it a day. Oh well. It was short, but it was fun. I hope to go up to Gatineau Park again. It's very pretty.
In the evening, a few of us went to City Wide Praise and Worship at the Metropolitan Bible Church. It was my first City Wide and it was okay. I wasn't blown off of my seat, maybe because I didn't know a couple of songs they were singing. However, we sang "Consuming Fire" and another song in English and French. I love singing praise songs in French hahaha. I think it's cool to see how the French translate the English songs. Since we ended early, we church hopped back to OCAC, since they were having an impromptu Praise and Worship night as well. We stayed there a bit and then Mel and JC wanted McDonald's so we all headed to McDo's for some snacks. I didn't want anything so I just sat there and watched people eat and chatted. Hehehe. Weird conversations but fun indeed.
Sunday
The usual routine: church and lunch. Except this time, we decided not to stay in Chinablock for lunch so we headed to Merivale and Hunt Club for some Boston Pizza. MMmmmmm...BP! Prior to lunch, Channers had to drive JC and I back home to pick up our hockey stuff. Arrived at BP a little late and everyone already ordered. Hehehe. But the service was really quick and our food came very fast. I love BP pizza. It's not too greasy and I love the crust. JC, Christal, and I decided to split a pizza and lasagna. Pizza was mmmm...and lasagna was adequate. Not the best I've tasted, but oh well. We must all try good and bad food. Then off to hockey.
Since the rumours were going around that I was an awesome goalie, I chose to be goalie again so I could show the people who missed last week's game what I was made of. Unfortunately, I didn't play very well and my sponsor (Nate) decided to drop me from my contractual obligations. I guess my goalie days are over. I let in some cheap goals, but I still made my fair share of saves. I was even "booed" by my sponsor and coach! Maybe Channers wasn't around so my confidence level was shot. But I did stop Karlsberg a few times. During one moment of the game, I let in 3 goals on 3 shots. Wow......I did suck. Bright moment of the game: JC scored a goal! Actually, she scored two -- one into her own net (on me....) and the other one was pretty sweet. She ran to the middle and banged a shot in, top corner! Hahaha... good job JC!
I was beginning to be a little tired and relinquished my goalie duties to JC. You could say coach pulled me in favour of another during the last minute of the game, as it was closing time and everyone on with last 2 goals wins. I played upfront and JC was amazing. She got the shutout and my team scored 2 goals to win. Hahaha. Looks like JC will be the new Black Ice endorser.
That game was the last game of the summer as people will be away at ESM Retreat (not me, since I have a stupid exam), E-Camp (not me, since I will be in rockin' Toronto), and other places. Looks like my stick and I will be reacquainted in September. In the mean time, Dougie will be sitting in Leon's garage with his fellow sticks.
So yeah...that was my weekend................fun eh? Next weekend, it won't be as much fun because I'll be a hermit and write two take-home exams. But after August 9th...I'll be freeeeeee!!!!!
