I haven't blogged in awhile...but then again, there hasn't been anything exciting to blog about, other than being at home. It's quite different being home. Living in the 'burbs is different than living downtown. Nothing is accessible walking wise (other than if I want to go to Pac Mall..but gag me on that) and I feel "locked" up in the house cuz I have to tell my 'rents where I want to go. Oh well, it's not that bad. I get my freedom when I'm in Ottawa :D
I went grocery shopping with my 'rents a couple of days ago. We went to T&T Supermarket at Middlefield and Steeles. When we usually go grocery shopping, we usually just go in, get the things we need, and pay. It's more of a grab and dash thing. We rarely go up and down the aisles (like I like to do at Loblaws in Ottawa) because there are usually too many people in the store. Anyhoo, we decided to go up and down the aisles and boy oh boy were there sooo many different kinds of the same food. You could pick food that comes from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Vietnam, etc. And within the different countries, there are different brands. Too much to choose from. I'm not used to seeing this much choice. ever. Not even with the grocery store chains that came before T&T, like Big Land Farm (which went bankrupt and closed all its stores). For those in Ottawa, T&T is this huge Chinese grocery store chain that began in Vancouver and now has stores in Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto. Think of a Loblaws but only with Asian foods (although they do sell Western brands as well to attract the gwai los). Just trying to pick a soy sauce and oyster sauce rattled by brain. Too many to choose from. Hehehe. In Ottawa, you get like one or two choices, three, if there is stock. Otherwise, you're stuck. That is why every September, when my parents come up, they always bring some Chinese food/sauces because it's a little pricier in Ottawa and there's much more to offer in Toronto.
At T&T, you'll also find lots of interesting things, especially those that are imported from Japan. This was a bottle of water that cost $2. We wanted to find out why it was so expensive. The taste didn't appeal to me, but the bottle did!
Please read the following instructions before opening the bottle...
