Co-op Interview #3

Yesterday afternoon, I had my third interview of the week for a Junior Policy Analyst position with the Governance Directorate at Treasury Board Secretariat. This is one of the positions I really want because it really challenges me to utilize my political and government knowledge and well, it would really be awesome to work for TBS.

Anyway, the interview started a little late because the interviewers had lunch at Zampub and service was slow, so I was delayed about 15 minutes. One of the interviewers came to get me and directed me to the room. She then says "Here is Michael O'Neill". I peeked into the room and who do I see? PROFESSOR MICHAEL O'NEILL. That's right. My professor for my Parlementarisme au Canada course. I was in shock. I kind of just stared and smiled. Hahaha. I knew he worked for the public service, but I thought he worked at Health Canada because that's what he told me in second year when I was in his Canadian Politics class! And I didn't think much of it when I saw the name 'Michael O'Neill' in the interviewers box. How many could there be in Ottawa? Plenty right? Both names are quite common!

So to begin the interview, he mentioned that whatever happens in the classroom won't affect me in the interview and whatever I do in the interview won't affect me in the classroom. It was too weird. I'm essentially blurting out things to a professor about working for the government and how I desire to get the job. Toooooo weird. So if I get the job, I'll be working with him. If I don't get job, I still have to see him until the beginning of April. Weeeiiiirrdddd...I think the interview went well. Definitely better than my other one with Infrastructure Canada. I was a little startled at first but I definitely calmed down afterwards, seeing my professor is interviewing me.

Anyway, chatted it up a bit about the job and stuff in the last question. Then he said "have a good weekend". Then I said "I'll see you Monday!" Hahaha. Too weird. So yeah, I couldn't believe it. I was still in shock when I went into work afterwards. Hahaha.

I have four other interviews and one written test (so far) scheduled until February 12. It's gonna be a busy busy week of preparations and I'll be missing some of classes, which is unfortunate because I hate missing class and I hate asking people for their notes because the majority of the time, I don't understand what they're writing/meaning.
