I am glad that the month of October is coming to an end, because it means I'll only have 1 1/2 months left of school. I just have to push through some more research papers and finals and then I'm free. Now I know how people felt in the winter semester. Motivation just totally went down. While I still want to do well and to meet my academic goals, they're not as important anymore. I rather spend time with my friends and to hang out (and bake) rather than sit at home and stare at the mounds of books and readings that I have to do. Meh. Just gotta keep truckin'.
Many of you have been wondering, "Lydia, are you going to stay in Ottawa after you graduate?" And the answer is "most likely". A couple of weeks ago, I expressed my interest in being bridged in at Service Canada and my supervisor expressed the same interest in keeping me on after I graduate. The only obstacle we have to overcome right now is with the budget and HR, although as each day goes by, it becomes a greater possibility. However, it is unfortunate that they can only bridge one student, so my cubiclemate (my work "brother") gave the opportunity to me since he accepted a job at Ernst and Young for September. I'm going to miss working with him and I hope my new sibling, whoever it shall be, will be just as cool as him.
On another happy note, I found someone to take over my residence contract. This had been lingering on the back of my mind since September -- how will I ever find someone to take over my contract if most people already has a place to stay until April or beyond? I even told my parents that I would forfeit the $700 deposit in order to save myself some stress in finding someone. Anyway, I posted an ad on the Student Housing Billboard last week and while I was disappointed that no one had contacted me about it for two days, a few people began e-mailing me about it! I was surprised and excited. I finally closed the deal this week. I'm so glad I get my deposit (minus the stupid administrative fee) back. Another monkey off my back.
This semester has been going by quite smoothly. I am handling the school+work+Elijah chairing+social life balance quite well. It's all thanks to God. He's really been blessing me so much this past year. Nonetheless, I can't wait to finish school. Keep on truckin'!
