I have been meaning to do a posting before the end of 2007, but due to a lack of interest, energy, and thoughts, I put it off. I guess I could do a recap of the past few weeks.
Exams
I was not really motivated to study this time, and I think it will show in some of the marks I will receive. The hardest period was between Dec. 4 and Dec. 11. During that period, I had to write two research essays of 12-15 pages each and study for an exam. The papers went okay; although, I was not too keen on the subject matters. The exam for my Risk class went horrible. I didn't adequately prepare for it and it showed, as I truly BS-ed one short essay and the long essay portions. I just prayed that I passed the exam to pass the course. A week later, the mark came in and I received a B. Thank God. My last two exams were a take-home and a written exam, respectively. Both went really well, especially the written one.
While I was not very motivated to sit and study for my last exam, especially since it was History of Sport ("tweet tweet"), I decided that I should do well on it and end off my undergrad years on a high note. The exam was very easy. I completed it in two hours, although I only took 15 minutes to complete 10 multiple choice questions and 10 true/false questions, but I took my sweet time answering the short answers. Hahahah. I just wanted complete and well-rounded answers! When I went to go hand the exam in, I had a huge smile on my face. UNDERGRAD COMPLETED. I went home and jumped for joy. But that only lasted for 10 minutes, because the feeling of being done had yet to sink in (and it still hasn't).
The Move
I literally had two days to pack -- Thursday evening and Saturday, since Wednesday was Nate/Leon's joint b-day celebration at St. Louis Bar and Grill and Friday was a "End of School/Fare-thee-well" thing for me at East Side Mario's. So whatever little time I had to pack, I packed. I chucked a lot of crap out, especially school-related things and little trinkets that I kept in my room to make it more "homey".
By the time the parental unit came up on Saturday evening, I had everything packed and ready to go, except for the kitchen stuff, since my mommy was going to cook the rest of the food I had. After the joint service at OCAC on Sunday, we began to pack the car. The weather was nice and warm, but it was raining. And it poured at times, which really sucked because it hampered our packing methods (since some stuff couldn't be wet). I should have taken a picture of the car, because it was packed from top to bottom and front to back. I thought I had minimal stuff, but maybe not....hmmm....If I do move again, I'm soooo renting a van. We finally left Ottawa a little bit before 4pm and the drive back was really smooth because there were no cars on the 401! We got home at about 10pm after stopping for dinner.
Christmas
Nothing too special. Had dinner with a family friend and her friends -- hotpot style! They all spoke Mandarin and sang karaoke. Good thing I had a book with me to keep me company.
Boxing Day
Woke up too late to do go to any door crashers. But something special was set up in front of the TV in the morning -- a Wii! My brother managed to track one down during his shift and bought it. I've been playing it almost everyday; steadily improving my tennis, golf, and baseball skills. In the afternoon, my parents and I went down to Sporting Life to check out their sales, since they usually have really good sales and we love their selection of clothing. But this year, there were no special sales. Everything was simply marked down 15-30%, which wasn't really a steal. Even Roots, which had 50% off their entire store last year, had sales for only up to 30% off. Bugger. I was hoping to purchase a few items too.
We were quite disappointed so we hit up Bayview Village. There was nothing too special there either and the salespeople there seem to be very stuck up. I'm not a fan of "haute couture" places, because of snobby shoppers and stuck up sales people, but we like going there because there are some special stores there. Again, we left empty handed.
Before dinner, we hit up the Best Buy near our house, because my brother wanted Rayman Raving Rabbids (sp?) and another controller. We managed to find both; although the rest of the Wii games were ridiculously high priced. The games that I want, such as Cooking Mama is $60! I cannot justify buying a video game for that price. I don't know how my friends do it.
Wisdom Teeth
On Dec. 28, I got all four of my wisdom teeth taken out. The operation wasn't too bad because of the anesthetic (I got to watch Mr. Bean while it was being injected!). I was also able to listen to my iPod during the operation, but I cannot remember hearing anything... The nurses were awesome and I was able to sleep for almost an hour after the operation to make sure everything was alright. When I left, I was more tired than dizzy. After a pit stop at Shopper's to get my antibiotics and Tylenol 2 (the heavy duty one), I went home to sleep. But I was soooooooo hungry, but all I could eat was mashed potatoes and congee. I hate the liquid/soft foods diet. I did not swell up as much and I only took two Tylenols, which is pretty amazing. I guess I have a high pain tolerance for my teeth now after enduring through years of braces. The rest of the time, I had a ice pack or a warm pack on my face. By Monday, I was pretty much back to normal, except I was still eating soft foods. Only in the past couple of days have I regained the strength and ability to eat hard foods. It still sucks that I have to constantly wash my mouth after every single time I eat, so the sockets do not get infected. Fun times. NOT.
That's about it for my holidays so far. I'll be returning to Ottawa (via Air Canada) on Monday until Wednesday for a two-day interview session with HRSDC. This is in continuation of the Post-Secondary Recruitment (PSR) process, which began back in September and I was informed of an interview in November. I thought I did pretty horrible in the interview, because it was not what I had expected. But on Dec. 11, I was informed that I was chosen for a second round of interviews! I was a little shocked. But hey, it's an all-expenses paid trip, so I'm happy about it!
Will blog more about my mini-trip next week. In the mean time, I'll be preparing for the interviews!
