Bottomless Pits

Last Tuesday, I had the opportunity to view a rare spectacle involving two individuals who gorged themselves with chicken wings. This event was a highly anticipated one, one which was announced months ago through e-mails and conversations during meals. And last Tuesday, it finally happened.

Around 15 individuals witnessed Chris and Andrea square off in a chicken wing eat-off competition at the Clocktower Brew Pub. Chris, being the man that he is, was doing a lot of trash talking, while Andrea stayed calm. Both started off ordering a plate of 30 wings. After that was chowed down, another plate of 10 wings each was ordered. By the 40th wing, Chris was moaning and groaning about the pain of eating too much. Nevertheless, another plate of 10 was awaiting their stomachs. Andrea was very calm and finished all her chicken wings (with room to spare, according to her). Chris on the other hand, had trouble finishing up his last plate and nearing vomited. He also had to unbuckle his belt and unzip his fly for room. After some strong encouragement from the observers and a diligent prayer to God for strength, he finished his plate. Final score: Chris ate 51 wings and Andrea ate 50 wings. Prior to his last plate, Chris ate a chicken wing from one of the observers to "one up" Andrea. Even though Andrea lost the friendly competition, she did gain the respect of many people at the table. We all knew she could eat a lot. But who knew she could eat 50 chicken wings without feeling sick? That is just amazing.

The servers for our table were shocked and amazed at how many wings were consumed during the evening by us. The final tally for chicken wings consumed by about 15 young adults were close to 400. A little disgusting I know, but Chris and Andrea already consumed 101 wings themselves.

The evening was quite eventful, and a future bottomless pit competition will most definitely occur. Of course, I will not be participating. I can only eat a measely 6 wings and I'd feel like I will burst.

(Pictures to come soon)
