Sometimes I get very frustrated with the wireless in this apartment. The router sucks, as Leon and Danny can attest to and at times, my Internet craps out in the middle of a MSN conversation, so the person on the other end thinks I just left without saying goodbye. This morning, I had Internet problems (again!).
Remember how when I first moved in to Lees, I couldn't even connect to the Internet? Well, it happened again and the memories of having to reformat computer, due spyware and a virus, came rushing back again. Except this time, I knew it couldn't be that problem because all my virus protection things were up-to-date (last time, they weren't...hehehe) and my brother even added MORE protection. Basically, my computer is in a bubble. At least, I think it is. So, what could the problem be?
Well, when Mich came home last night and went on her computer, she couldn't connect to the Internet. Then I told her to scan her computer, because there might be a problem. She did and discovered a virus and a trojan horse. Hehehe. She said she would deal with it the next day (today) since it was getting late already. Anyway, this morning, I woke up to discover that it was my turn, where I was unable to connect to the 'net. So I scanned my computer and everything was fine and dandy. I was sooo pissed because I planned on doing some research for my final exam (which is more like a final mini-paper), since the weekend is out of the question, with hiking and hockey (H and H!). Anyway, Mich came home from her morning workout and I asked her if she was able to connect to the Internet and she was connected. Grrrr...I asked her to disconnect her wireless to see if maybe I could connect. Nothing happened. Oh well. So, my plan was to become reacquainted with the library. After lunch, I would go to the library, spend some quality time with the computer and perhaps the book stacks, come home, make dinner and watch a movie or something.
Mich left for work while I was eating lunch. After eating and cleaning up, I was getting ready to leave and then I saw my little wireless icon said "status: connected". WAAAAHOOOOOO!!!! So, I think it's a problem on Mich's end because she turned off of her computer when she left for work and now, I'm able to connect. Too bad for Mich, who has a virus and can't even open Internet Explorer, although she can connect to MSN. Now, I don't have to go to the library. hooooray.
On another note, I just booked my ticket to go home on August 13th. I am redeeming my VIA Preference points, so my trip this time, is free! Hehehehe. The guy over the phone even asked me if I wanted a window or aisle seat! I was a little surprised when he asked me, because they don't usually ask you that when you're booking tickets. I guess because I'm a VIA Preference member that they do that. Of course, I requested a window seat. More privacy and I like looking out the window.
11 days till I'm done 3rd year (although, according to my transcript, I completed 3rd year in April) and 15 days till I go home!
