Another pre-season game attended by yours truly. This time, I got my revenge because the Leafs won 3-1. Last year, it was such a disappointment because they got their butts creamed.
Anyway, I was hoping to catch a glimpse of Andrew Raycroft, Mats Sundin, Bryan McCabe, Tomas Kaberle, and Darcy Tucker. But loe and behold, it was the B-team that played; mainly rookies and players trying to earn a spot on the team. So no stars to watch, but Michael Peca, Hal Gill, and Pavel Kubina, who were the other off-season acquisitions played. I thought Peca played well. The first period was a snoozer. Neither team played very well. Sloopy passing and sloppy everything. The second period was better. Sens scored first (Mil, JC, and I almost missed it because we were lining up for Sparty....eww...but just got back in time). Then the Leafs played a lot better. The Sens replaced Martin Gerber with Jeff Glass and he let in the three goals. LOL. We called him "Lalime 2" because he was wearing #40, Patrick Lalime's old number. Anyway, sweet revenge. Had a good time cheering!
Work is going well. Things are starting to pick up. It will be a little bit more busier in the coming weeks as training starts to pick up and hopefully, I'll be on HRMS soon so I can start inputting accident reports. On Thursday, my boss asked me if I had any intentions of wanting to be bridged -- shooting right into the work world after I graduate. I told him I haven't really thought of what I really wanted to do. He said that if I wanted to be bridged, he would help me out, even if it means leaving my unit/group and joining another unit/group. So I guess that's a good sign right? I've already made a network connection :). Although OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) has nothing to do with my political science degree, I believe I can still use my poli sci stuff and apply it to OHS. I've been editing some of the safety policies that my office has to put out and it's great to have such a rich writing background that I'm able to utilize my writing skills and put them to use. Although I could be in another job that is related to my field of studies, I may not be as happy. With the bridging option available to me at this moment, I could possibly ask if there is an opening with ADM(Policy Group), which would be awesome since it's about defence policy and I could be their unit general safety officer, once I'm qualified.
I'm keeping my options open though. I have the intentions of leaving DND in December for a new experience in the summer (my last co-op work term). I really want to work for DFAIT, CIC, or Cdn. Heritage. But I've become attached to DND and its family.....decisions decisions decisions....and I'm still one year away from graduating?! I wonder how my friends who are graduating in April are feeling.....
