Aside from the craptacular weather, today has been quite good to me.
I had my site visit/evaluation today from the co-op office by Anick Villeneuve. I wasn't as nervous this time around because I knew what to expect but there was still a sense of nervousness. Turned out that I received 'outstanding' on everything except for written and oral communication, which I got 'excellent' in because my bosses said no one can be perfect in writing or speaking. LOL. Otherwise, my bosses have been very happy with my progress and work ethic. After going through the evaluation with me, Anick mentioned that they were not going to have a co-op student for the winter term because of lack of students -- too many jobs but not enough students. I knew they weren't matched in round 1, so I thought they would move on to round 2. Turns out something happened that I wasn't aware of. Anyhooo back to the evaluation. So Anick told me that there might be a possibility for me to be hired on part-time from January to April. Wow. Barring from any HR fiascos, if they are going to offer me a part-time position, I'll probably take it because it would be good to get some pocket money for that time and I'm sure they'll be quite flexible with my hours. Awesomeness....I was thinking of getting a PT job somewhere on campus or in the mall during the winter months, but with this opportunity coming up, it would be much better than slaving away at a clothing store or something.
Anyway, the rest of the evaluation went quite well. The funny thing was that I mentioned that one of my objectives for this work-term was to be "more French". Then Anick said "You know French? Well, then we're going to do the rest of this in French!" HA. I had to quickly change my brain to French and spoke with her the rest of the way. I was surprised at how much I was talking! LOL. I haven't spoken for real with someone in awhile (ok...2 months) but I'm always surrounded by it, so I guess that helps. LOL. Anick was very surprised by how well I spoke and she said that I would probably get whatever job I wanted in my next placement because of my linguistic abilities and of the past evaluations. Let's hope that comes true :).
The day went by quickly as well and today, I finished the last of my 8-5 shifts. Geez...I only took two days off from work but it took 15 days to work off those missed 15 hours. Another happy moment when I left work. It started getting tiresome working from 8-5 because by 3:30pm, the floor is pretty much dead and everyone's gone home. By 5pm, it's pretty much me, a few people, and the cleaners. Glad it was over.
And lastly, I got my paycheque today! Whoo hooooooo LOL. Moooola!
Oh yeah...and if you haven't noticed, I updated my Flickr account (on the right sidebar) with pictures from my trip to Vancouver and area. I don't have all of my pictures up because I already used up my quota for the month of October. So in the coming days, look for new pics!
