Now they're coming in bunches, so I'm going to have to make the anecdotes short and sweet.
Co-op Interview #4: Public Service Commission
The interview happened yesterday (Thursday) for a position with PSC working with their student programs (e.g. FSWEP, co-op/internships, post-secondary recruitment, etc.) and I thought the interview went well -- not too bad and not exceptionally well. Just well. The questions were relatively straightforward, except for the situational question. That was a little confusing, but I think all situational questions are confusing because I never know what to say. Meh. I did, however, wow the interviewers with a copy of the DND poster I helped create (did I even show it on my blog?), since students chosen for an interview had to come prepared to the interview with an answer to a specific question. Anyhoo, they thought the poster was really cute. The only screw up was that I didn't make copies of my written work. I brought my originals with me, thinking they wanted to see it right there and discuss them with me, but I guess not. So I had to scramble and use my roomie's scanner to scan my documents and send them via e-mail.
Co-op Interview #5: Canada Revenue Agency
This was the interview portion, as I did a written test for the position on Tuesday (see post below). Let's just say I think this job went down the drain. I know I did poorly in the interview because I screwed up my French answers (he asked me what my interests were and to tell him my favourite trip, since he noticed that I've been well-traveled). Anyway, the interview wasn't what I had expected. It was simply three situational questions (and I dislike those) and there was no mention about how I did on the written test. The only fun part to the interview was when I asked them questions about the job. Apparently, with this position, there is a lot of traveling involved. The co-op student was there and she told me that she was leaving for Vancouver next week for a few days....ahhh!!! VANCOUVER!!!! Ok. Well, whatever, I doubt I'll get this job. But they did give me cinnamon hearts as a gift.
Co-op Interview #6: Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Right after my interview with CRA, I had to rush to the Sports Complex for my other interview with CIC for a Junior Analyst job. Now, this is one of the jobs I want. Why? Because I will be working with their Access to Information and Privacy Services and because it's CIC, which is one of the departments I would like to work for when I graduate. Anyway, I think I wowed in the interviewers with my knowledge of CIC. One of the interviewers also asked me questions that were completely unrelated to the job because she wanted to know what I did when I worked for the MPs office, since I handled some CIC cases and the current demographics of the riding. Hehehe. Overall, I think I did quite well in the interview. She seemed very interested in listening to my answers and was very impressed that I was able to find information about the ATIP office at CIC. I think this job, for now, is one of my top choices.
I still have three interviews on Monday (CIC, DFAIT, and Service Canada) and finally, round one is over. I can't wait till Tuesday till I find out my rankings and Thursday when I find out the results. I really hope I get matched in round one because I don't want to go into round two. The preparations for the interviews and time away from class is taking a toll on me.
